Microblading vs. Permanent Makeup

microblading

The first major difference between microblading and permanent makeup is the application. Microblading is performed with a hand tool consisting of several little needles in a row; a semi-permanent pigment is applied to the (epidermal layer) of the skin. The (epidermal layer the top) of the skin sheds every 28 days. Microblading is a temporary procedure meant to last only twelve to eighteen months. Microblading will need to be repeated approximately every 1– 2 years to maintain the same look. Microblading is only done on the eyebrows. You should be sure that your technician is professionally trained in either microblading (or) permanent makeup before having a procedure performed. Please check ALL credentials of Board Certified Technicians BEFORE you book your appointment.  www.micropigmentation.org

Permanent makeup is different from microblading. Permanent Make up can be applied with a hand tool, a digital machine, or a rotary machine. Although, most permanent makeup technicians now prefer the digital machine. This is a personal preference depending on how the technician was trained and on their personal skill level.

Eyebrows can still be applied in a hair stroke pattern even when using a permanent makeup machine. Some permanent makeup technicians use a duel technique using two different tools when applying eyebrows to give a more 3D effect. (This is a look you cannot achieve with microblading.) Permanent makeup will go deeper into the skin and last longer. What determines how long the makeup will last is how deep the pigment penetrates the skin, the type of pigment used, and the method of application. The machine will penetrate the (Dermal layer) of the skin, the second layer of the skin which will make the permanent makeup last longer.

Although, nothing lasts forever, “permanent makeup” is more permanent then microblading. The permanent makeup will fade over time due to natural aging of the skin, sun exposure, medications etc. No one can put an exact number of years on how long a pigment will last in the skin. Each individual person is different. When permanent makeup is done correctly, by a skilled technician, and with good quality pigments it will last an exceptionally long time!  If you are in the market for makeup that lasts for several years without a retouch, this would be the best option for you! Swim, sleep, shower, or exercise—it never comes off!  Permanent makeup is offered as an eyeliner service, full lip color, eye brows, (hair stroke look or solid), beauty marks, scalp pigmentation, scar camouflage, etc.
